PLANTING DREAMS WITH THE RODRIGUEZ FARMING FAMILY 2009

I spent Christmas 2013 with the Rodriguez Farming Family of Valley Center Northern Escondido area, San Diego County, California. Papa Joe and I spend some time together and I heard an update about the plans for development of this farm that was sold about ten years ago. The land, that feeds many at the 15 or more Farmers’ Markets in the San Diego/ LA County area, and a thriving CSA–Community Supported Agriculture Program– is in an area that isdestined to be developed for housing. Maybe it will happen in ten year, maybe twenty, maybe soon, as roads go in, Papa Joe, the Elder of this fifth generation farming family tells me. It’s been years since I worked on versions of a little book I had in mind called, “joe The Farmer.” My own energies are not what they were when I planted Seed Dreams for the well being of this farming family. The world faces deeper and deeper need for Food Reform. Somewhere within the story of “Joe The Farmer,” and his quest to Never, Never Give Up, is a message that needs to be heard.~ Leslie Goldman, Your Enchanted Gardener, Plant Your Dream Blog.
