“Grow a Healthier Pizza” is my theme for Hami High Bio Fair May, 2013

Grow A Healthier Pizza Testimonial #1

Projects in the Science Classroom 2013 at Hami High School

In 2012, I was able to influence students through sharing ideas in the classroom and at the April 25, 2012 Medical Fair. The Fair was organized by students and my niece Eva Becker, a Science Teacher at Hamilton High School. I brought Organic Foods into the classroom a number of times. At the Medical Fair, we ground fresh whole grains of KAMUT ® Khorasan Ancient Wheat with students and we planted dreams. Later in the year, during the heat of the Prop 37 Debate, I returned to the classroom a few days before both sides of the question were debated. I gave my point of view to students and expressed why Labeling GMO’s was important. The students watched “Genetic Roulette” by Jeffrey M. Smith. They also heard from No from a Prop 37 spokesperson, and Pamm Larry, instigator behind Yes on Prop 37.

The work of influencing students will continue in 2013. I will return a few days after the Natural Product Expo West in March, and again in April for the BIO Fair, and later in the fall.

Uncle Leslie in the Science Classroom at Hami High School Fall 2012

in 2012 I started a pilot project in the science classroom of Ms Eva Becker called to “Taste Organic!” Later in the Spring I returned and students did “Plant Your Dream” with KAMUT ® Khorasan Ancient Wheat. I had a display the science classroom “Growing a Healthier Pizza!” will return in 2013 with a number of experiences in the classroom and at the BIO Fair April 21, 2012.

RAW NOTES FROM MEDICAL FAIR

Ms Eva Becker had an Medical Fair Planned for April 25, 2012 at Hami High School.
I participated.

Grow a Healthier Pizza

My niece Eva Becker had a Medical Fair at Hamilton High April 25, during Earth Day Week, 2012. I traveled to Los Angeles to plant some seeds with these wonderful teens. This was the start of Project Taste Organic based on the idea that when teens can taste organically grown food, their remaining sixth sense will guide them toward what is right for them.

Most kids are not yet exposed to healthier foods. Many cafeterias of public schools in many urban cities are stocked with foods that keep a economy of obesity and dream fulfillment at a low ebb. A new trend is now emerging, beginning in California where high school kid are having the opportunity to be schooled in GMO education, and have the opportunity to Taste Organic!

This project began a few years ago at Hami High School. My niece Eva Becker called me in one day to teach while I was in Los Angeles. The response from the Hami Youth was profound both for them and for me.

When I was in college, I had a dream, that I would become a well known journalist and in later life would return to the classroom to inspire kids. I graduated in Journalism, and sought a teaching credential. My health began to fail me. Right out of college I was drawn to live in nature. It was here that I was introduced to my life work…Keeping The Dream Alive of the Natural health Elders and indigenous cultures. That dream is now unfolding.

The next step begins, March 2013.

HOW GROW A HEALTHIER PIZZA WAS BORN

in 2012, I had two new companies thatcaught my inspiration.

One is KAMUT® Brand Khorasan Ancient Wheat. Bob Quinn, founder of KAMUT® International became a sponsor of the Plant Your Dream Blog and my Youth Projects.

As if it was meant to be, I discovered that believe it or not, there was a new Pizza store not far from Hami High that was beginning to serve, Kamut ® Khorasan Pizza crust! Slice Truck was the first pizza outlet in the nation to use KAMUT ® Khorasan Wheat and it was right in the neighborhood of Hami High!

Then, while at the Hillcrest Farmers’ Market, while already working for Prop 37, I ran into a package of San Marzano Tomato Seeds that were a gift to the YES on Prop 37 Campaign. San Marzano is the tomato that is very popular among the Pizza Sauce devotees.

The last of 160,000 San Marzano Tomato Seed Packets were sent my way, about 300 from the Baker Creek Rare Seed Company.

So Where is this all going?

How Fast Can a Dream Grow?
As Fast as a Blade of Grass!

Through Project Taste Organic and Grow A Healthier Pizza, I want to influence youth to regain confidence that they can grow some of their own food. I would like to like to introduce youth to healthy food that they might make better choices. In 2012, more than 6 million voted yes in California to Label GMO’s. An entire grassroots movement is needed across the nation to create the tipping point away from GMO proliferation and toward organic eating and living.

This is a Favorite Quote for the 2012-2013 Season from George Washington Carver. I found this quote in the books of Edmond Bordeaux Szekely, who I see an the foremost Essene Renaissance Prophet of the 20th Century. “Essene” means many things, including, Expectant of the return to wholeness. It means, holding to the Essential. It means each of us being an Organic Uprising, Standing Up for Nature’s Original Technology.

FOOD SAFETY CHAMPIONS 2012

in 2012, I will be championing the work of Alfred McCann, whose suppressed books, “The Science of Eating and “Starving America” deserve to be best sellers today; “Empty Harvest” by Dr. Bernard Jensen and Mark R. Anderson; …and Luther Burbank, (1907), who in the “Training of the Human Plant,” pointed out how human seeds and plant seeds grow by the same organic principles of classical plant breeding that works best through Organically Rooted Gene Modification. . Burbank said the Survival of the Fittest is based on a wide diversity of races and their genes shaking hands. HJis potato helped save Ireland when their gene pool got too narrow. even before the age of Biotech. Plant Your Dream on this night of inspired stories, including your own!

I will be repeating this class through the year, and writing a book about the subject material that calls for a resurrection of the Pure Food Law of 1906.

KEEPING THE DREAM ALIVE!

Dr. Bernard Jensen with Leslie Goldman, a photo from sometime in the 1980’s at the Hidden Valley Health Ranch, Escondido.

Humanity is on a journey of Awakening from Slavery to Freedom. In ancient times, many people knew they were enslaved. Today, we are enslaved by foods. We are in a Food Emergency. Each year we are having more and more an Empty Harvest and yet, as never before The Field’s are Ripe, and Ready to be Harvested. More and more people are becoming aware. This empty harvest is so, because of the dire nature of where we find ourselves as individuals, as community, as nations.

TEACHINGS FROM AN ANCIENT GRAIN OF WHEAT

One of my favorite all time stories is called “The Legend Of Zarathustra.” It tells about a King who was troubled by the deepest questions of life. He sought out the neighborhood prophet, Zarathrustra. Zarathrustra told the King that he would discover the answers to his problems if he got to know a profound Teacher. The teacher was an Ancient Grain of Wheat.

THE MAGIC BOX: OPEN IT! TAKE YOUR DEEPEST DREAMS OUT AND PLANT YOUR DREAM!

This story, about an ancient Prophet, known as a great gardener, who gives a King or a Queen, a Grain of Wheat, has impacted my own work. It is the basis of my work called Plant Your Dream.

The story, as told in the opening pages of the book “The Essene Book of Asha” by Edmond Bordeaux Szekely speaks about a Golden Box. The king stored his grain of wheat in that box.

I have a silver Box. I travel with it everywhere I go. I tell many people I meet that inside this box are the deepest dreams of humanity. I invite them to take their dreams out of the Silver Box and Plant them.

I told this story at Hamilton High School last Fall.

Precious, one of the students, wrote up a little song about The Magic Box.

Precious, a student who will graduate from Hamilton High School, heard the teaching of the Magic Box when Uncle Leslie, that’s me, taught in the classroom of my niece Eva Becker last October. I introduced the youth to Flower Essences and many other natural remedies. They want be to come back.

The work Of Keep The Beet Media Star, The World’s FIrst Talking Beet Plant was inspired by this story. The King had lost his beat with nature. We today, have lost our beat with nature. I know that through the simple act of taking our dreams out of the symbolic silver box–represented by seeds, and then going through the act of literally planting our dreams with intention, there is much we can learn about regaining our beat with nature. Through the act of gardening with intention, we can get our beat back with nature.

Can life be that simple?

Could a simple grain of wheat teach us the secrets of life?

Keep coming back!

I will keep you posted.

My goal is to inspire one million youth to take their dreams out of the Box starting one dream at a time.

TAKE YOUR SEED OFF THE SHELF. NOW IS THE TIME TO PLANT YOUR DREAM!

FEEDBACKS FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH AT HAMILTON HIGH SCHOOL
LOS ANGELES

Dear Uncle Leslie,
I really enjoyed your presentation yesterday. It uplifted my spirits and made me feel like I had to do something to make our planet better. Personally, I don’t eat vegetables but everything you said changed my mind about it. I do need to change my eating habits and I do need to grow my own vegetables. You kept the classes’ attention. You were funny, and you kept us interested. You’ll probable be the man that’ll actually get our generation to do their part in helping rebuild our enchanted garden.

Dear Uncle Leslie,

I was very impressed by the natural sprays. You had different types of mixtures which I was interested in trying, because I remember I sprayed this one essence and when I was going home all my emotions settled and I felt brand new.

“TASTE ORGANIC! THAT’S REAL FOOD!”

Youth at Hamilton High School enjoy an organic yellow watermelon from J.R. Organics, fifth and sixth generation local organic farmers from San Diego County. Securing The Organic Future at the Rodriguez Ranch, a land that needs to be back in the family hands, is one fundraising project on my Radar.

INTRODUCING YOUTH TO ORGANIC FOODS

Introducing Youth, beginning at Hamilton High School, to organic food and natural remedies is another pilot project

Dear Uncle Leslie,

I really enjoyed the lecture you gave us (and the watermelon!) It taught me that you need to eat all of the right foods to be whole and live your dream. I could relate to a lot of it, especially the part about planting your seed to live your dream, even if you don’t know what your dream is quite yet. Something you taught me was to eat organic foods because they are much healthier. Also, you taught me that shopping at local farmers markets will benefit us and the farmer. The local farmers really care about our well being and after I ate the watermelon, I believe it. The whole presentation was very interesting and educational in a good way. Thanks for taking your time and talking to us about this important subject.

UNFI Truck on the Scene at Hami High This Fall, Or?

One of my favorite Organic elders, Michael Funk, of UNFI, is be a likely candidate long range for the Project Taste Organic campaign. I envision, sometime this Fall, a UNFI Truck driving up to Hami High. Michael is a founder of the Non GMO Project, and stands behind the Label GMOs campaign that is now the rage in California.

STICKING THIS HERE

Uncle Leslie in the Science Classroom at Hami High School

I am working with a pilot project in a science classroom to introduce “Taste Organic!” I have a display the science classroom of my niece Eva Becker at Hami High School. “Growing a Healthier Pizza!” is one of the “Taste Organic!” Projects we have launched.

What is a GMO?

Label GMOs in now on the ballot in California for the November 2012 election, yet if you ask most people, including school age youth, they have never heard of a GMO. Through these projects in the Classroom, I want to start an education process. This is not about whether GMOs are good or bad, as much as about what they are, and learning all sides of the issue. At the Medical Fair 2012, we had literature from different points of view, including the books, “Mendel in the Classroom,” a Biotech scientists point of view, and “Empty Harvest,” by Dr. Bernard Jensen and Mark P Anderson. This book expresses the an organic side of soil and food growing. We also had other key books that will be part of education youth about grains, namely “The Science of Eating” by Alfred W. McCann (1918.1919).

Label GMOs? This is now a ballot measure. A massive education effort in California, reaching out to students, parents, and many others who have never heard of GMOs now begins. To assist in this education is one of my goals for the next six months.

GROW A HEALTHIER PIZZA LAUNCHED AT HAMI HIGH SCHOOL MEDICAL FAIR APRIL 25, 2012

“Grow a Healthier Pizza” was launched at the Hamilton High (Hami High) Los Angeles Medical Fair. This Project will be a workshop for kids and adults. The content will inspire getting your beat back with nature through growing KAMUT® Khorasan ancient wheat and Non GMO San Marzano Tomatoes in a container.

Plant Your Dream! As the Seed Grows, so Does The Dream You Plant!

The plants as they grow become our teachers, helping us regain our beat with nature. The Plant Your Dream work is a the core of the experience. You take your dreams “Out of the Box” and Plant them in a pot of organic soil.

KAMUT® Whole Grains and San Marzano Non-Gmo Tomatoes are Planted

We work with the grain of KAMUT® Khorasan Wheat, an ancient grain. As a hands on exercise, we hand grind it, regaining a sense of how flour is made. There will be a nutritional aspect to the lesson plan, teaching students about wheat and this ancient form of wheat called KAMUT® We will look to other texts, including “The Science of Eating” by Alfred W. McCann about the degradation of wheat in our food supply and develop an appreciation for whole grains that can be used in preparing pizza and breads. The ultimate experience would be to add tomatoes we have grown and kamut we have harvested, grown in our own pot, to a finished product, a healthier pizza! This involves teaching about the health benefits that can come from growing Kamut Khorasan Wheat and Non GMO Tomatoes. Contributors to this project are Robert Quinn of KAMUT® International, a pioneer in the propagation and education about KAMUT® Khorasan Grain, and the Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company who produce Non GMO San Marzano Tomato seeds and many other Heirloom seeds. Students will learn about seeds. What are heirloom seeds? Hybrid Seeds? GMO Seeds? In our first “experiments” at the Medical Fair of April 25, 2012, students ate Organic cheese, a gift from the Horizon Organics. I will involve other products in the class and workshop for students and workshop attended. Taste Organic! is the underlying theme.

THE GREAT HAMI HIGH LABEL GMOs DEBATE OF FALL 2012

I will work with my niece Eva to inspire a Hami High Debate on all sides of the Label GMOs question. At BIO, the Biotechnology Industry Organization International Meeting, I saw Genius students being trained to take apart our DNA in their science classroom; I would like students to be introduced to the Organic point of view.

I participated in a Medical Fair April 25. I made inroads into making friends with school cafeteria staff and an outside chef LaRue Palmer who wants to adopt the Hami High as part of the Obesity prevention national effort working within the schools. I received powerful positive feedback from Admin, Faculty, and Students.

The youth are responding to what I am teaching about Taste Organic and Plant Your Dream!
