The Plants are Here to Help Us–Traditional Medicine Insights

One of the takeaways from the 3rd Festival of Traditional Medicine of the Americas was a confirmation and affirmation of insights about plants and their role in our life that I have been teaching for numbers of years.

For the longest time, I have had this intuitive image of plants–representatives of Nature’s Original Technology–patiently and sometimes irritatingly impatiently waiting for human beings to get a clue: Mother Earth’s Original Technology is perfect for this planet.

I see the image of a hand on the surface of a table–making a hand movement of fingers thumbing repeatedly as if to say, “What are they going to get it???”

We, as human’s have tied in our knowledge of plants with a profit motive, rather than a prophet making motive. Many people have set out to dissect plants and imagine they can harvest some of their key healing ingredients. They do not realize that the whole plant is connected to a vast subtle and overt network of planet intelligence that is here to help us.

Many times, we become ill or sick, and gratefully, we have enough good sense to return to nature’s medicine. Many more of us today have never been exposed to nature’s plant medicines. We only know of drugs or most recently genetically modified drugs.

Without any sense of the wonder of plants and what they can do, divorced and separated from our own nature, we go with TV ads that promise results, and support the industries that are far removed from nature.

I am not against drugs. I believe in heroic measures. In other words, measures that can give us time to learn from our lifestyle mistakes, but I recently had a wake up call that was life shifting and a consciousness explosion for me: I heard Brian Hornbeck talk about Yerba Mansa, a wild herb growing in the soil at Rancho Los Chabaconos; Later, I sat in on a bit of the workshop with Matthew Wood, an herbalist. My mind was blown.

It was underscored for me: Each plant is here to serve us. They are part of Nature’s Original Technology. The Plants are here with profound healing properties that comes when we enter into an intimate and caring relationship with them. Plants are not to be left our of our familial relations. They not only provide us Food as Medicine; they also give us the medicine we need to correct our imbalances.

It is the very act of working with them that is a preventative, as well as therapeutic.

Not long ago, I heard Dr. Andrew Weil M.D. speak at the Scripps Natural Supplement Conference in February 2013, orchestrated by my friend Dr. Mimi Guernari, head of the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Weil began his keynote by reminding us that Medicine, by its definition, is not about drugs. It is about something deeper. It is for us to begin the journey to reclaim medicine. Making some plant allies is a good place to start.

This winter I was searching for a way out of persistent colds and susceptibility to flu-like symptoms. I heard Dr.Andrew Weil M.D. speak at the Scripps Natural Supplement Conference in February. He said he used mushroom products. I learned they were from Fungi Perfect and Host Defense.

Since, my immune system has improved, including major improvements to my bowel health. I learn toward IBS conditions. I have had diarrhea last for years. I experienced a profound shift when after I started to take MyCommunity, one of the Mushroom blends available from from Host Defense.

This is one of many mushroom products created by Paul Stemets, one of the most original thinkers I have met. I was stunned to realize that in all my years of health research and experience, I had not had Paul Stamets and the healing power of mushrooms on my radar. That has now shifted.

There are brave souls who dare to dream
that men are brothers and not foes,
That hands may clasp across the seas to common good,
to common woes;
that beneath God’s Law, the Essene Moral ABC,
that 6 Billion strong unites All-One-God=Faith men will embrace
in brother-love to never kill in bitter hate,
who dare to hear the might truth, reverberating
through long years, that faith-love-courage conquer
fear & teamwork heal a nation’s tears.
Through flood & Fire sweep the old earth’s sod,
& awful tumult there is God, our glorious world within
His upraised palm.

Among the journeying stars, the moon,
the sun that have not failed because of that great might,
with other pilgrim planets, we are one held in His hand,
kept in His steadfast sight.

Amidst the cannons roar you can hear God’s voice;
“Replace half truth, our real enemy, that age
old hated with full truth, hard work, God’s Law uniting mankind
in All-One=God-Faith!”

For Centuries, man struggles half asleep, half living, small,
hate, jealous, bickering with mountains of red tape to be awakened,

The Influence of OFRF, OTA, and EXPOWEST On The GREENING of the Anaheim Convention Center

Back in 2006 or so, I first brought fresh organic herbs to Jim Tripp, head of the Aramark kitchen. I met Jim Tripp because OTA and OFRF chefs would interact each year in the Aramark Kitchen at the Anaheim Convention Center. I shared my dream to establish an herb garden at the Anaheim Convention Center. That Seed Dream was fulfilled in Spring 2012. They planted an herb garden! The Anaheim Convention Center is now known as one of the top Green Convention Centers in the world.  This would not have been the current state if organic leadership and our chefs had not interacted with the Aramark Staff.

Support for the 2013 Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza was a most loved activity at #expowest, the 2013 Natural Product Expo West in Anaheim.

On the same day, Leslie, Your Enchanted Gardener, shared some sweet words with long time ally Walt Robb, Co-ceo for Whole Foods Market, the chain declared it was going to label all products for GMO Content.

Megan Westgate, a major support for GMO Labeling through her marvelous work with the Non GMO Project was also at the Organic Center VIP dinner. The Non GMO Project has been a favorite of WFM for many years.

Walt made ads for Yes on 37 in the final days of the Prop 37. I had planted a seed during the Prop 37 campaign that support would be forthcoming from WFM.

As early as September, while visiting the Santa Rosa WFM, I noted on the Plant Your Dream Blog, the the largest chain of organic and natural foods in the US, was prepping to have step up its support for the Yes on Prop 37 Campaign.

WFM Santa Rosa was a major support at the Natural Heirloom (Seed) Expo, where I taught September 11,12,13.

One of the highlights of the Caravan, September 1-10, 2012, to the 2nd Annual National Heirloom Expo September 11-12-13 in Santa Rosa, California, was spending time with dear friend Katrina Frey and the Frey Family at the Frey Vineyard in Redwood Valley.  I am clear that GMO Labeling and entering a Post GMO World will come from the gracious generosity of individuals.  Katrina models this selfless service and support to the movement for going good in the world.

We need to seek out and support the brands that support GMO Labeling, and living beyond GMO Proliferation.

We need to support Food Reform in America that starts with helping our Kids.

• Rancho La Puerta and Tecate Visits–continuing the vision to support gardens in Tecate and the flowering of Traditional Medicine.  Growing A Bread we will prepare and eat as Edmond Bordeaux Szekely and Deborah Szekely experienced during the Essene School of Life Era.  
• Late Summer–Caravan to the National Heirloom Expo before September 11.  Fall–time to get to Bioneers!  Participation in the Pacific Symposium 2013.
• Progress on the home front–Stabilizing the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community at home throughout the year.
